Douglas T. Hendrickson, President
Doug has over 25 years of experience in financial services.
He is a leading benefit consultant and financial advisor
to corporate clients and business owners in numerous
industries. He has advised major financial institutions,
large manufacturing businesses, and middle market companies
in areas of employee benefits, strategic acquisitions,
capital structure, and sale transactions.
Before running his own company, Doug spent 15 years
with Chemical Bank working in New York, New Jersey and
Texas. During his banking career Doug worked in the
corporate banking and middle market lending group where
he filled a variety of positions including that of Senior
Credit Officer. In that role he was responsible for
working on and approving transactions up to $100 million
and was involved in all types of deals including several
mergers and acquisitions.
Doug received his BA in economics from the College
of Wooster and his MBA from Columbia University Business
School in New York. He also completed advanced professional
studies at Harvard Business School. Doug was a frequent
speaker in the Chemical Bank Credit Training Program.
Doug and his wife live in Manhattan and have two kids.
Doug is a Deacon of the Brick Presbyterian Church and
member of The Union Club, The Rockaway Hunting Club,
and Sankaty Golf & Beach Club in Nantucket.
John D. Poppe, Jr., Director
John Poppe is a respected financial executive, banker,
operator and benefit consultant. Prior to joining Hendrickson
& Company in 2003, John served as Chief Financial
Officer for a private middle market manufacturing concern.
Mr. Poppe has also founded a business consulting and
advisory firm.
John has 9 years of executive finance and operations
experience. Before running a company, John spent several
years originating, analyzing and structuring middle
market corporate finance transactions for Chemical Bank.
During his career, John has structured merger and acquisition
transactions, reorganized companies, established oversea
operations, developed and implemented I/T systems, negotiated
debt agreements, and managed investor relations. From
strategic planning and high-end finance to understanding
daily operational requirements, John has built a career
understanding the needs of middle-market owners.
John received his MBA from The Stern School of Business,
New York University. He also completed the Chemical
Bank Corporate Finance Training Program. John and his
wife live in Staten Island, NY.
J. Douglas Sherwen, Jr., Vice President
Doug Sherwen has over 25 years of experience in the
insurance industry. He is a respected employee benefits
advisor and a founding partner in a real estate development
firm. He comes to Hendrickson & Company after serving
as Vice President with the Chase Insurance Agency, a
division of JPMorgan Chase. His primary focus is working
with Financial Institutions in developing their employee
benefit programs.
Doug is one of the leading group association insurance
marketing executives in the industry. During his career
he has held senior positions with firms such as Marsh
& McLennan, United States Life/American General
(now AIG), Continental American Life and the Insurance
Services division of the Depository Trust & Clearing
Corp. Many of these positions involved association marketing
programs.
Mr. Sherwen received both his Bachelor of Science and
MBA degrees from Seton Hall University, holds insurance
licenses in many states and has been a speaker at various
insurance and banking conferences. Doug and his wife
live in New Jersey where he is active in local civic
organizations.
